Program Manager, Wildlife

Title: Program Manager, Wildlife (项目经理,物种)

Reports to: Deputy Practice Head, Wildlife

Location: Changchun/Harbin


Main Responsibilities:


•    Be responsible for leading theteam to implement the proposed workplan of WWF China’s relevant projects.

•    Building and maintainingpartnerships between WWF China and partners, e.g. local governments, researchinstitutes and universities, and other organizations.

•    Participate and makecontribution to the development of WWF China relevant program strategic andimplementation plans with a portfolio of projects and activities, ensuring thecoherence with WWF China conservation strategies and delivering the objectivesand outcomes.

•    Be responsible for thedevelopment of annual work plan and budget, monitoring program implementation,reporting the progresses and results, and taking adaptive management approachesto ensure the effective implementation of these strategic and implementationplans.

•    Be responsible for providingsuitable data and information about program implementation to relevantcolleagues in PED and PDD of WWF China and donor partnerships of WWF network.

•    Keep abreast with developmentin the working field and report to the team on new approaches and developmenttrends in conservation.

•    Accomplish other tasksdesignated by the supervisor.




•    At least Master degree inecology, wildlife conservation or relevant subjects.

•    At least 5-year work experiencein wildlife conservation, community development or related field.

•    Qualified competence ofproject/program management.

•    Fully understand and agree themission and philosophy, as well as the strategy of WWF China.

•    Familiar with internationalorganization operating rules.

•    Familiar with adaptivemanagement approach.

•    Excellent language skills inChinese and English.

•    Good communication skills.

•    Adaptive to frequent fieldtravel.

•    Dynamic, creative, proactive,credible, accountable and outgoing personality and commitment to natureconservation.


Program Brief:


Amur tiger and leopard are twoglobally endangered species. They are facing threats of habitat loss anddegradation, as well as poaching. Amur tiger and leopard are also the flagshipsof the forest system in Russian Far East and northeast China. Since 2006, WWFhas been carrying out the conservation programme for Amur tiger and leopard inNortheast China together with partnerships. The restoration of theirpopulations and habitats is the goal of the programme. The conservationmeasures we take include habitat rehabilitation, anti-poaching, populationmonitoring, mitigating the conflict between human and wildlife, internationalcooperation, etc. Through long and unremitting efforts, the populations of bothAmur tiger and leopard in China have been raising up from the bottom. Now theprogramme is based in Changchun, Jilin province. The Working area spans thehabitats of Amur tiger and leopard in both Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces.
